Woodward Chapter Leadership Award
Michelle Gibson Herman (Beta Theta Chapter, University of Wisconsin—Whitewater), instructor at Divine Redeemer Lutheran School in Harland, Wisconsin, was the recipient of the 7th Woodward Award, presented November 16. The Theodore Woodward Chapter Leadership Award was established in memory of Dr. Theodore (Ted) Woodward, sponsor of Omega Chapter, George Peabody College, Nashville, Tennessee. A nationwide competition is conducted each biennium to recognize a DPE member for outstanding leadership and service to a local chapter.
DPE National Leadership Award
Dr. Ellis J. Jones, 1966-1987 National Executive Director of Delta Pi Epsilon, was awarded the 2007 National Leadership Award. This award was established to recognize a DPE member for outstanding leadership and service to the national organization and the profession. The recipient exemplifies a commitment to promoting scholarship, leadership, and cooperation among professionals in education for business through leadership at the national level.
DPE Independent Research Award
Dr. Heidi Perreault (Gamma Omega Chapter) and Dr. Nancy Keith, Missouri State University, were the recipients of the 2007 Delta Pi Epsilon Independent Research Award, presented for the best research that advances any area of business education published in any review board or editor refereed journal. The award was presented for their article, “Business Students’ Acceptability Perceptions on Using Workplace Technology,” published in the 2006 NABTE Review, Vol. 33, pp. 55-61.
DPE National Conference Outstanding Paper Awards
Donna H. Redmann (Delta Beta Chapter) and Dr. Joe W. Kotrlik, Louisiana State University, were the recipients of the Outstanding Research Paper Award, for the paper titled, “A Trend Study: Technology Adoption in the Teaching-Learning Process by Secondary Business Teachers—2002-2007.”
Dr. Martha H. Rader (Alpha Sigma Chapter) and Kathleen McCoy, Arizona State University, were the recipients of the Innovative Instructional Practices Award, for the paper titled, “Differentiated Instruction for Gifted and Talented Business Students."
